To Better Understand Gifted Children, Talk With Gifted Adults

Gord Sherwood – The H.I. Factor

Looking at the life experiences of gifted children through the childhood memories of gifted adults provides great insight to many of the potential, or even probable longer term implications of both positive and negative experiences.

You’ll find that there are indeed very deep, truly life shaping implications. You’ll find that they manifest in all sorts of symptoms that you’ve seen, maybe often, but had no idea of what was beneath them. You’ll realize that what you may have seen as dysfunction may actually have been a symptom of extraordinarily high function. It will give you an entirely new appreciation for the crucial importance of understanding and facilitating the unique needs and embracing the unique capabilities of these very special young people.

To better understand gifted children, talk with gifted adults.

    1. I agree that you can’t simply “intellectualize” neurodivergence. This is where gifted school programs suffer, and where a lot of business organizations that embark on neurodiversity programs will find themselves and their neuro-divergent employees becoming very frustrated.
